Dive into God’s Word to learn how it describes and defines worship by using the SOAP Bible Study Method (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer). Use the Worship SOAP Bible Study Workbook to help keep all your studies in one place. Praying that the following will be a launching pad into your studies! Feel free to add any extra notes in the comments for others who are studying. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; Observation: This passage is very similar to Psalm 29:2. The verse in psalms most likely came first and this verse is quoting that psalm. The verse in Chronicles has “bring an offering and come before him.” This is an act of doing something and of sacrifice. Ascribe means to credit or assign. Splendor means brilliant or gorgeous appearance. The splendor of his holiness means brilliant perfection. Application: Worship is tricky because we don’t want to do things out of duty, but we should also be doing things (acts of worship). Bring an offering, sacrifice, etc. as an outpouring of worship and a desire of your heart; this should override your sense of duty. Prayer: Spend time in prayer asking God to help reveal to you how you can bring an offering to him. Then, spend some time in worship. Let it be with everything you have and the desire of your heart.
