My mouth is filled with your praise, Observation: Worshiping all day long because he is a refuge, rock fortress, hope, confidence. Splendor means brilliant or glorious appearance, grandeur, glory. This psalm is most likely written by David. He is a man of worship! Application: If your mouth is filled with praise all day long, it can’t also be filled with something else…complaining, arguing, etc. We can worship all day long because of who he is. Prayer: Give praise to the Lord today. Worship him as often as you can and intentionally battle anything else that tries to take its place. The whole earth bows down in worship to him. Singing is a huge form of worship. Not the only form, but a prominent one. His name is worthy of praise. The author of this psalm is mentioned. Psalms without authors are often attributed to David. This psalm is a hymn of thanksgiving and worship. Application: Worship the Lord in honest basic praise. There is so much to thank him for. Need a reminder? Read this psalm in its entirety. Prayer: Spend time in worship today and praise the Lord for all he has done. The whole earth bows down in worship so join in! This is the very last psalm and verse of the entire book. Everything that has breath should praise; all creation. A great variety of instruments is used in this psalm. Praise does not equate music, but music is often a form of praise since it’s very easy to do corporately. Application: Remember that music is not the only form of praise and worship. Try to appreciate other styles or instrumentation of worship as represented in this psalm. Prayer: Ask God to help you praise the Lord no matter what! Ask him to help you obey this command. Worship the Lord with gladness; Observation: Joyful songs; worship doesn’t have to sound like a funeral dirge but can be celebratory and happy! Joy doesn’t always mean happy though but can be worshiping through trials. However, this verse says gladness and joy so we can conclude that is probably happy worship. This entire psalm is a psalm of grateful praise! Application: We can be filled with joy because he made us, and we are his. We have so many reasons to be glad while we worship and give gratitude for all he has done. Prayer: Pray and worship in a tone of gladness and joy today. Even if you are going through a hard time, do your best to praise and give thanks. Click here to view all resources for the Worship SOAP Bible Study.

A song of ascents is a pilgrimage psalm as travelers head to Jerusalem. Most likely written by Daivd which means he is writing in the third person. Someone would need to be low in posture in order to worship at his footstool; bending down and worshipping. This shows the difference in worthiness. God is worthy and we are not. Application: We are unworthy to be in his presence, yet he allows it. Prayer: Spend time in prayer and worship today. Again, realizing who you are in comparison to the Lord. While you pray and worship, take a moment to bend down and kneel in his presence. Click here to view all resources for the Worship SOAP Bible Study.
