The Lord says:
“These people come near to me with their mouth
    and honor me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
    is based on merely human rules they have been taught."
Isaiah 29:13

Observation: God doesn’t like when we just worship with our words; it needs to reflect in our actions as well. Our hearts need to be near to him. The mind and heart need to connect as we worship. Isaiah was a prophet who spoke hope and judgment. He spoke the truth even if people didn’t listen and take heed of his warnings.

Application: Worship isn’t religious; it’s a relationship. We worship because we love the Lord, not out of obligation or requirement. Obviously, we should worship, but our desire to worship should be above the duty of worship.

Prayer: Spend time in prayer and worship today asking God to convict you when you are just going through the motions. Ask him to help your heart long for him.
