Dive into God’s Word to learn how it describes and defines worship by using the SOAP Bible Study Method (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer). Use the Worship SOAP Bible Study Workbook to help keep all your studies in one place. Praying that the following will be a launching pad into your studies! Feel free to add any extra notes in the comments for others who are studying. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’" Luke 4:8 Observation: Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 6:13. He constantly quotes God’s Word to combat Satan. Technically his Word too! This reminds me of The Chronicles of Narnia. Aslan says, “I was there when it was written!” The Spirit brought Jesus out to the wilderness for 40 days. We see the Trinity in this section. This time in the wilderness was right before he dove deep into his earthly ministry. Application: Do we know God’s Word enough to quote it and combat the devil? Do you know it and use it when you need to combat idols in your life? Jesus is very adamant that we should worship him only. He does not share power! (LOTR reference). Do we serve God only? Does something else distract us from worshipping? Do you worship the mode worship instead of God? Prayer: Spend time in prayer and confession asking God to help search your heart to see if anything is distracting you from worship. Ask God to forgive you for worshiping things other than him. He is the only one worthy of worship! Click here to view all resources for the Worship SOAP Bible Study.
